"Every summer, when I came to visit my grandparents on vacation, often went down to the basement of the village house, there were always a lot of different glass containers: cans, bottles and jars. They contained edible moving worlds of sauerkraut, mayonnaise, pickles and mushrooms.
The main inspiration and the main narrative of the album is the resonance of a glass can, partly representing an archetypal sound form with its artifacts. The format of working with jar resonance is similar to children's household archeoacoustics, where a historical artifact is studied playfully. The resonance itself becomes important to us and what appears on the border between our listening and the body. All the works were recorded live, some of them are presented in collage technique, others unfold live from the beginning to the end of the composition.
The history of this album begins with the filming of the joint film “MISH”, where, according to the idea of Tala Nikitina, the camera was placed in a jar and found its own view of the surrounding events. For the presentation in the Bomb Gallery, a permanent project “Banka” was created, where various kinds of cans were used as bases for strings, percussion and other instruments. During the rehearsal vigils at HighCastle studio, the possibility of creating sound structures using resonances of glass jars was discovered.
Cans used in the work: Mama, Tala Nikitina, Lada Raskolnikova and German Vinogradov, Philip Datura, Meta-Mitenev, Evgeny Voronovsky, Boris Bo.
Used equipment: cans/jars, speakers, microcassette and cassette recorder with tape speed, string vibration, mini lo-fi speakers, microphones. Part of the collage work, equalization and compression in post-processing."
